  Respirators are routinely specified for T&D asbestos-related work even though   their use is not supported by air sampling data. This discussion will explore   the complex mix of organizational tradition, stakeholder perceptions, and regulations   that influence IH & safety decisions. We will tie this into variances somewhere   along the way.

Employee exposure monitoring results in PeopleSoft data base and discussion of Hexavalent Chromium results

  This presentation demonstrates the PeopleSoft Exposure Monitoring module that   Progress Energy developed in-house. A brief history of the development process   will be followed by examples of data entry and retrieval, queries, and spreadsheets.   Use of this application for documentation and analysis of hexavalent chromium   sampling results is also demonstrated.

60Hz   EMF occupational exposure guidelines (ICNIRP, IEEE, ACGIH) and Radio Frequency   Issues

  This presentation describes exposure guidelines/standards for power frequency   and radio-frequencies that have been published by organizations such as IEEE,   ICNIRP and the FCC. Contemporary issues relevant to the development of future   guidelines are discussed as well as a more general discussion of EMF events,   such as the recent WHO report.

Metal   Fume Risk Evaluation

  Health and Safety personnel are required to monitor cutting and welding jobs,   but have little information to sort the jobs by relative risk. A few simple   steps can identify prime targets, obtaining the best value per air sample.
